A project sponsor is an individual (or sometimes an organization) that is accountable for the completion of a given project. A project sponsor has the authority over various aspects of the project and makes decisions related to funding, resources, project direction, and defining the various constraints related to cost, schedule, scope, and quality. In some cases, the project sponsor can also select the technical approach for a project.
