A project plan is a document that guides the project delivery from initiation to closure. The document lists all the milestones of the project divided by phases along with a timeline to complete those milestones. Other sections of the project plan document (a sample template) could include the following:

  • Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Key Milestones
  • Overall Project Schedule
  • Milestone Dependencies
  • Expected Project Outcomes and Benefits
  • Project Metrics
  • Risk Management
  • Vendor and Sub-contractor management plan
  • Quality Assurance
  • Configuration and Change Management
